Surgical Technologist
The surgical technologist is part of the operating room team. He prepares the operating room and sets out sterile and non sterile supplies, ensures that equipment is working properly and prepares the operating table. Another of his duties is to prepare the patient by washing and shaving the operation area, then painting the operation area with disinfectant. During the operation he hands sterile tools and materials to the surgeon and assists him, sometimes using suction machines. He monitors vital signs and enters them onto the patient chart and is responsible for counting sponges and bandages used in the operation.
