Rehabilitation Coordinator
When injury or serious illness interferes with the ability to work, the rehabilitation coordinator is needed. Working in consultation with the physician responsible for the patients care in the community, the employer and the worker, the coordinator develops and implements a program to help the worker return to work at a rate which will not cause regression. In cases where the worker cannot return to normal work, the coordinator works with the employer to develop a plan of suitable duties which the worker can perform. Rehabilitation coordinators usually specialise in a specific medical area, some helping those with vision disturbances, others with mobility disabilities or stress related disorders.
