Optometrist
The optometrist is the eye specialist who sees most people with vision problems in the community. He can test vision, diagnose eye diseases and treat some of them, prescribe medicines and spectacles and refers patients with more serious problems to the ophthalmologist. He has the knowledge to efficiently treat cataract sufferers and those with diabetic complications of eyesight, and often provides care to those who have had eye operations.
