Occupational Therapist

Many patients who have undergone traumas of different kinds can benefit from occupational therapy. The therapist uses everyday skills such as sorting shapes, drawing pictures or playing games to help patients learn to interact with their surroundings. Usually the therapist will guide patients in activities connected to life skills such as reading newspapers and discussing current events, being aware of surroundings and using resources such as the post office and bank, library and shops. The occupational therapist usually works in psychiatric institutions or rehabilitation facilities and reports progress to the wider health care team.
