Nurse Midwife
The nurse midwife is often the most highly trained professional in the delivery room. The midwife is involved in all stages of delivery, examines patients and can detect complications, decides when to move the patient to the delivery room and is responsible for safe delivery of the baby. If complications occur the midwife alerts the obstetrician and assists him, coordinates the health care team and keeps a record of all procedures and drugs given.
