Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The nuclear medicine technologist, working under guidance of the physician, delivers these substances, called radiopharmaceuticals, to the patient by mouth, injection or other means. The technologist explains the procedure to the patient and answers any questions, upholds safety standards and keeps a record of all radioactive substances used. Most nuclear medicine technologists work in hospital radiology departments.
