Nerve Conduction Studies Technologist
Working under the guidance of an electrodiagnostic consultant, the technologist accepts patients, explains procedures to them and prepares them for the tests. He attaches surface electrodes, makes measurements and monitors instruments to ensure accuracy, and presents test results to the consultant for interpretation. The technologist is responsible for keeping his instruments calibrated and in good working order, keeps track of patient records and assists the consultant in more complicated tests. Senior technologists may sometimes train other staff and be involved in general patient education in this area. Most nerve conduction studies technologists work in hospitals or specialised clinics.
