Medical Transcriptionist

When patients are seen by a doctor in the emergency room, admitted to hospital or treated in any of the many settings where doctors make a spoken report, this report is transcribed into the written word by the transcriptionist. Using comprehensive medical knowledge, the transcriptionist converts the information in the spoken report into a standard form, and enters it into the patients record. Transcriptionists need independent judgement and deductive abilities to arrive at an accurate and consistent report, and must have good communication skills. They work in doctors offices, hospitals and most clinics, many choose to work at home as freelancers or for companies providing medical services.
