Home Health Aide
Disabled people living at home often need help with daily living activities, and the home health aide fills this need. Working with the elderly and infirm, the aide helps them to dress, bathe and groom themselves. Some aides work at night, watching over confused or handicapped patients who tend to wake often and may need help in re-orientation. Under supervision from a nurse or physician, the aide may measure and record blood pressure and pulse, take temperatures and change non-sterile dressings. Sometimes the aide assists in feeding the patient, and can give medications under supervision. Most aides work with an agency, and may work full or part time, with one patient or with several.
