Histotechnician

The histotechnician is responsible for preparing tissues and cells so that they can be examined for diseases and malignancy. Using techniques like frozen sectioning, fixing, dehydration and tissue dyeing , the histotechnician prepares very thin slices from samples sent from the operating theatre or from biopsies done by the physician. Most histotechnicians work in hospital laboratories, some work in private laboratories or in research, and opportunities exist to work in a temporary setting, changing workplaces every few weeks.
