Epidemiologist
The task of the epidemiologist is to investigate disease incidence and discover how and why outbreaks of contagious diseases happen. Some work in hospitals, gathering information on the type of infections treated and trying to pinpoint sources of infection in the hospital, others work in community health centers or in local health authorities. They are responsible for identifying unusual clusters of disease in the community and presenting ways of dealing with them. Much of their work is aimed at preventing spread of disease, and often they work in education of health workers, or in improving standards of hygiene in restaurants and public places.
