Dietetic Technician
Working under the supervision of a dietitian, the technician is responsible for collecting information about patients dietary habits, and is usually the primary patient contact.Often he will work with patients to help them accept changes in diet,and sometimes cooks meals to demonstrate cooking methods and teach new ways of preparing food. The technician implements dietary changes and supervises daily meal preparation. Sometimes he plans daily menus for school or hospital settings, using a list of approved foods and calorie recommendations. He may be responsible for kitchen management, or work with a health care team to assess nutritional value of services offered to schools and care centers.
