Clinical Laboratory Technician

Working under the guidance of the clinical laboratory scientist, the technician carries out simpler tests and routine tasks, prepares specimens and assists in maintenance of laboratory equipment. Usually specialising in a particular area, he may use a microscope to detect pathogens, seed bacterial cultures or perform automated blood tests to determine the composition of a patients blood.
